If Thorn, Bane of the Forest is defeated

    • The forest we came from, Fairwood, has been freed of its curse. I was there to witness the forest's warden be tangled up by those cursed roots... But we toil with no humans, and our magic did nothing, so we roamed and roamed until we found this strange portal. It's what lead us here."

If the player has Thorn Mask equipped

    • "You remind me of that old warden, did the forest's curse get you too..?"

If the player has negative Alignment

    • "You don't look like a very pleasant fellow. I hope you don't try to chop me down... Haha.. Ha."

If there are few trees nearby

    • "You aren't using that axe of yours on my tree friends, are you..?"

If there are no trees around at all

    • "You aren't using that axe of yours on my tree friends, are you..?"

If the Treebark Dryad is below 80% health or a Treebark Dryad has been killed in the past

    • "Do you fear the unknown? Does my size frighten you? Please, do not be afraid, I am just a lone ent."

If the Treebark Dryad is below 80% health or a Treebark Dryad has been killed in the past

    • "You are a peculiar thing. Do you chop for a reason, or for fun? You should be more considerate about your surroundings."

If the player attempts to buy from the Treebark Dryad after killing another Treebark Dryad

  • Chopping Down

Treebark Dryads will respond to attempts to chop down itself or nearby trees, warning the player before they do so.

  • Attempting to chop down a tree

    • "Now, now. Watch where you swing that axe of yours... I don't want you chopping down any of my friends."

Attacking the Treebark Dryad with a weapon with an Axe weapon

    • "It will do no good, young man/lady. We bring no harm to you. Chopping us down will only bring bad omens."
  • Killing a Treebark Dryad in this way will lower the player's Alignment by 1 and prevent the player from purchasing from Treebark Dryads in the future. Additionally, Forest Nymphs will require the player's alignment by at 3 or above if attempting to garner their trust once a Treebark Dryad has been slain.

    Trivia

    • The Treebark Dryad's bestiary is *"These slow-thinking ents only appear in heavily forested areas. They have only recently arrived on this island, coming from the portal on the surface. Once every century, they find a shallow pond and hibernate in the centre. The water from the pond feeds the ent while hibernating."*
    • Killing a Treebark Dryad for the first time with the Chalice of Alignment in your inventory will prompt it to say "Assisting the extinction of these dwindling dryads is not something I approve of."
    • The Treebark Dryads reference Thorn, Bane of the Forest, and allude to Fairwood, the kingdom Thorn is from.
      • Additionally, the Surface Portal leads to Thorn's forest in Fairwood, which will eventually be implemented as a Subworld containing the bossfight.
    • Sakura Treebark Dryads can additionally get the name "Cherrysplinter", and Willow Treebark Dryads can be named "Blossomwood".
