Abandoned Laboratory

The Abandoned Laboratory is a massive underground dungeon that generates upon world generation. Unlike other areas in Terraria, the Abandoned Laboratory has a static structure and will always be the same in all worlds. With its dangerous defenses and debuffs, the player must exercise caution prior to entering, it size is similar to temple.

The Abandoned Laboratory will always be generated at the same location, depending on map size:

It's recommended to acquire the IO-Locator accessory and equip it before trying to find the laboratory.

The Abandoned Laboratory can only be initially visited in Hardmode, after the player has defeated all three Mechanical Bosses; attempting to visit the Laboratory prior will unleash invincible Laboratory Drones that will relentlessly attack the player. Following the defeat of the Mechanical Bosses, the drones will be deactivated, allowing access to a portion of the Laboratory, including the rooms containing The Janitor and Irradiated Behemoth mini bosses, as well as a number of items from Standard Security Lockers. Each mini boss drops a Lab Access Panel, which deactivates the laser security systems to unlock additional sectors of the Laboratory.

The rest of the Abandoned Laboratory becomes accessible after the player has killed Moon Lord and obtains the Keycard to open the Locked Keycard Doors around the laboratory, as well as the ability to open High Security Laboratory Crates. Before Blisterface, the player will have to have the HEV Suit to survive the radiation and will have to dodge high damaging obstacles to proceed to Blisterface. After defeating Blisterface, the player will be rewarded with the Nano Pickaxe which can break Black Hardened Sludge, allowing complete access to the Abandoned Laboratory, including the Protector Volt and MACE Project mini bosses and the final boss of the dungeon: Patient Zero.

After Irradiated Behemoth, you are able to resummon the laboratory mini bosses by using the Hologram Remote, which is sold by The Janitor.

• Rod of Discord doesn't work within the laboratory biome until Patient Zero is defeated.
• Enemies that spawn in the laboratory biome never despawn naturally unless you exit the biome.
