The Energy Cell is a craftable Hardmode miscellaneous item that is also dropped by androids and Abandoned Lab enemies. Additionally, it can be found in Holochests within the Crashed Ship in quantities of 2 to 5.
If the player has an Energy Pack in their inventory, right clicking Energy Cell will consume it, recharging 100 energy in the process. An Energy Cell will be automatically consumed when the player's energy falls below 15.
