The Irradiated Behemoth is the second miniboss fought in the Abandoned Lab. It drops the Lab Access Panel - Gamma, which deactivates some of the laser security systems, allowing for further exploration of the Abandoned Lab.

While the Irradiated Behemoth is alive, the music Safety Violation will play.

Spawn

The Irradiated Behemoth initially lays dormant above the broken bridge section of the Abandoned Lab. Going far enough in that section will wake the Behemoth up, starting the fight.

After the initial fight, the Irradiated Behemoth can be re-summoned by using the Hologram Remote in its arena.

Behavior

It behaves like a vertical Wall of Flesh, slowly crawling downwards with its arm. After each time the Irradiated Behemoth crawls down, it will perform one of the two attacks chosen at random. The first attack consists of firing a spread of 3 tile-piercing Radioactive Gas.pngRadioactive Gas clouds, followed by a spread of 5, then a spread of 3 clouds. The second attack fires a barrage of fast Gloop.gifGloop projectiles that are blocked by tiles.

Being above the Behemoth causes it to fire Radioactive Gas clouds upwards that incur massive damage.

If the Behemoth loses more than 25% of its health in the first 10 seconds of the fight, it will enrage, causing it to rapidly descend for a second.

If the Behemoth is not defeated before it reaches the ground, it will slowly vanish and despawn.

Aftermath

Trivia

  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Irradiated Behemoth: "An unfortunate scientist, disfigured and mutilated beyond recognition by the Xenomite infection. This specimen is entering the final stage of the infection, and has had its body transform into a sludgy slurry on the ceiling... God, that must be agonizing."
  • Irradiated Behemoth used to be an immobile slime-like boss before version 0.7.8.
