Protector Volt is a Post-Moon Lord mini boss found in the Abandoned Lab.

While Protector Volt is alive, the track Safety Violation will play.

Spawn

Protector Volt does not spawn on his own and is only summoned by approaching him in his specific room in the Abandoned Lab's Sigma Sector, unlocked after defeating Blisterface. He can also be spawned by talking to the Protector Volt NPC after defeating him and clicking the "Challenge!" button.

Similar to the The Janitor's fight, the player can skip the fight with Protector Volt by wearing the T-Bot set. The player will still receive the Lab Access Panel - Omicron after a cutscene.

Behavior

Protector Volt is found in a large room with two platforms, along with electricity concealed underneath the floor that inflicts the Electrified debuff when touched. When approached, he will initiate a short dialogue chain before breaking the majority of the floor, exposing the electricity underneath and initiating combat.

During combat, Protector Volt flies to a number of set points in the room, randomly choosing from an arsenal of attacks every time he lands.

  • Charges up before firing a sweeping laser that laser cannot pierce tiles.
  • Charges up before firing 2 stunning beams in a V-Shape, which converge inward and inflict the Static Shock! debuff on contact.
  • Charges up before firing multiple electric bolts at the player, in a slightly randomized spread. The bolts inflict the Electrified debuff.
  • Aims his gun upwards and fires 5 arching Electric Orb.gifElectric Orbs that inflict the Static Shock! debuff. Upon impact with a tile, the orbs explode into 8 electric bolts that inflict the Electrified debuff.
  • Flies horizontally while firing a vertical laser upwards/downwards. The laser cannot pierce tiles.

Upon being reduced to 1% of his health or lower, Protector Volt will become passive and invulnerable while landing in the middle of the floor. After another dialogue chain, he will drop the Lab Access Panel - Omicron and fly back to his original position, where he can be talked to as an NPC.

    Quotes

    • "Do you wish to ask something? I may be able to answer."
    • "I ask you not to be scared, I am here to protect. Do not let our misunderstanding cloud your judgement."

When the player clicks "Other T-Bots?":

    • "There are a few who are not part of the Omega, the Alpha insurgents and the Scavengers would be those few. The Alpha is the main threat however, I would be wary of any of their members if you see them. They're a rebellious group helmed by Adam, the first of our kind."

    When the player clicks "Adam?"

    • "He is not to be underestimated. While no different in stature to an average bot, he has a brutality like no other, matched with an intellect to rival Girus. Be at peace however, he does not harm humans."

    When the player clicks "Insurgents":

    • "There were five of them at one point. My knowledge on them is brief. What I can tell you is their names. There was a sniper, Shiro, she is missing. A bot with a hammer, Talos, powered by Xenomite I have never seen, he is missing. Another bot, Zeroth. He wielded a bladed glove, he is dead."

    When the player clicks "Scavengers?":

    • "They're bots who live independently in the wastes. We don't bother them, so they don't bother us. I have heard talks of Alpha attacking them however, I can't confirm or deny those personally."

When the player clicks "MACE Project?":

    • "That old machine was a project by one of the human engineers. It has since gone under the care of the Crane Operator. I am guessing it went awry, I heard quite the ruckus down there."

When the player clicks "What's at the bottom of the lab?":

    • "Sector Zero, the infirmary. We are forbidden from going in there by Girus as well as the Janitor. I understand the Janitor's reason, he doesn't want the gunk from down there all over. Yet Girus' reason remains unknown."

    When the player clicks "Girus?":

    • "Our commander and leader. Some bots have taken to calling her Mother yet I never understood that. A fair but strict leader, it is best not to disobey her."

When the player clicks "Why follow Girus?":

    • "We were made as weapons for war, and not much else. Girus gave us new purpose and freedom we would not have seen otherwise, that is why most, including myself follow her. There are the unlucky ones however..."

When the player clicks ""The unlucky ones?"":

    • "Some chose to not listen, a few of those are still causing problems today, yet most got assimilated. Their personality and mind ripped out, and their body enhanced. They are soldiers, cannon-fodder, Girus views that as fair punishment."

    While wearing the Adam Head:

    • "*He looks very uncomfortable*"
    • "*Visibily shaken* O-oh it's just you. Y-you startled me r-really bad..."
    • "*He looks really anxious*"

    While wearing the Volt Head:

    • "Had your eye augmented? Very useful. You've also lost your jaw, like me. Hopefully not as dramatically as I. Torn off by the leader of Alpha."
    • "Your jaw... It's gone. Hopefully not torn off violently. Really hope I don't face HIM again without a squad... *Shudders*"

    While wearing the Android set:

    • "Promoted to a soldier? Welcome, I'm your commander. At ease."
    • "Regular check-ups on your non-lethal tesla weapons are advised. You do not want to overlord an insurgent in front of Girus. Obedient mindless slaves are better then scrap metal, she says."
    • "See an insurgent while patrolling? Do not engage alone. They have lethal weaponry. We don't. Get backup."

    While wearing the Janitor set:

    • "Have they finally given the Janitor a partner? It is about time, he has spent five decades cleaning this facility by himself."
  • Trivia

    • The BestiaryBestiary entry for Protector Volt: "A gentle giant who keeps his sentences short and acts as a Guard inside the Laboratory. Volt used to be part of the Bear Unit on the surface, but retired after a violent altercation."
