The Basan is a pre-Hardmode miniboss that spawns during the Fowl Morning event. Defeating it will add 500 points to the event's score.

Behavior

Basan walks towards the player and alternates between the following attacks in a set order:

Flaps its wings 3 times, firing Heat Waves at the player with each swing. The range of the Heat Waves increases.
- Below 50% health, performs this attack 4 times instead.
Summons 3 Ghost-fire Chickens that fly at the player in an attempt to deal contact damage. A maximum of 8 Ghost-fire Chickens can exist at once.
- Below 50% health, summons 5 Ghost-fire Chickens instead.
Flies up in the air, attempting to go behind the player.
Breathes fire in the player's direction. Basan cannot turn around during this attack.

Basan only deals contact damage while flying.
While Basan cannot be afflicted with the On Fire!/Hellfire debuffs, killing it with a Fire weapon will still drop Fried Chicken.
- Ghost-fire Chickens, however, cannot drop this item, regardless of the method used.

The Basan is based on a mythological animal of the same name.
- Basan is said to resemble a large chicken and breathe cold ghost-fire from its mouth.
