Wasteland
“A blast that withers earth, mutates plant, and decays air. Such power is otherworldly.
The Wasteland is a Hardmode biome that does not exist upon world creation and instead must be created manually by detonating a Nuclear Warhead. It is a bleak and hazardous environment, posing many dangers to the player, from stronger mutated enemies to Radiation poisoning. A dark green fog fills the air of the biome, making it harder to navigate.
The crater in the center of the biome contains Plutonium and Ash Blocks, or Plutonium and Glass if the Nuclear Warhead was placed on Sand Blocks before being detonated. The blast converts different biomes into their irradiated variants, including the Forest, Snow biome, Desert, Crimson, and Corruption.
While in the biome, the player will constantly be afflicted with the Radioactive Fallout debuff, greatly reducing their stats. During the rain and while above surface, the debuff will be replaced by Heavy Radiation, which reduces stats even further and deals 2 damage per seconds. The water in the Wasteland has a toxic green color and will deal 30 damage per second to any players submerged in it without proper protection. The Gas Mask, Hazmat Suits, and the HEV Suit can be used to negate various environmental hazards of the biome.
