The Omega Cleaver is a Hardmode boss fought during nighttime and is the first of the 3 Omega Prototypes.

While the Omega Cleaver is alive, the music Armageddon Interface will play.

Spawn

The Omega Cleaver does not spawn on its own, and is summoned by using the 1st option of the Omega Transmitter during the night and after defeating Plantera. On use, the Wielder Bot will fly up to the player's location, and summon the Omega Cleaver from behind, initiating the fight.

Behavior

The Wielder Bot will command and swing the Omega Cleaver, utilizing a wide range of attacks. Contact with the Cleaver or its phantom copies deals very high damage and inflicts the Snipped debuff, which reduces wing flight time by 50% and prevents the use of flying mounts. In addition, a box of translucent walls will form an arena around the Wielder Bot when it first spawns, trapping players within it. The Wielder Bot itself deals no damage, but is protected by a ring of 4 Shield Orbs that delete all non-minion projectiles that touch them.

If the Omega Cleaver is destroyed, the Wielder Bot will flee, leaving Omega Cleaver's loot behind. If the Wielder Bot is killed, it will drop the Cleaver Remote as a special reward, and the Omega Cleaver will self-destruct.

Attacks

• Overhead Swing - Swings in a wide arc, leaving accelerating Omega Blasts behind.
• Stab - Performs a stab directly at the player, spinning while returning to the Wielder. The Cleaver has a 40% chance to perform aditional stabs immediately after the first one.
• Speen - Spins while staying close to the Wielder, launching Omega Blasts in random directions. The Wielder Bot will also home in on the player during this attack.
  • Only uses this attack if the player is far away.
• Overhead Swing Spin - Swings in a widening spiral around the Wielder.
• Twin Blade Slice - Slashes at the player before attempting to go behind them, performing another swing afterwards.
  • Below 60% health performs a third slash immediately after the second one.

Below 90% health gains the following attack:

• Blade Pillars - The Omega Cleaver travels directly above the player, before splitting into Phantom Cleavers that cover the width of the arena, and all stab down.

Below 75% health gains the following attack:

• Sword Burst - Stops in place and summons 14 Phantom Cleavers around itself, which will all be fired directly at the player after a few seconds.

Below 30% health gains the following attack:

• Red Prism - Stops moving and fires a sustained laser from its tip, rotating while doing so.

Quotes

When Omega Cleaver is defeated, Wielder Bot will say the following line before leaving:

• "...Nah."

Rarely, when summoned Wielder Bot will say the following lines:

• "I came here to kick gum"
• "and chew ass..."
• "...And I'm all out of ass."

After defeating Omega Cleaver these quotes appear from Girus in order:

• "..."
• "That was a little disappointing to be honest."
• "I suppose that's what's to be expected from minimal changes to TeoChrome's original design."
• "Oh well! I got some results that'll prove useful later on."
• "Come again later, and I should have another machine ready to test."
• "Shouldn't be too long, I'll be reusing some old machine gathering dust in the basement."

Tips

• Due to the boss' high damage and inflicting the Snipped debuff, even one hit is likely crippling and can lead into taking even more hits. Only its melee attacks inflict Snipped, so it is advised to get hit by its ranged ones if forced to make a choice.

Notes

• The Wielder Bot takes 250% damage from melee weapons.

• The Bestiary entry for the Omega Cleaver: "A proof-of-concept weapon of war modified by Girus, the Omega Cleaver is a giant sword controlled by a small remote stick that was wielded by another machine."
