The Log Staff in use.
The Log Staff is a craftable Pre-Hardmode summon weapon. When used, it summons a Log sentry that shoots a bouncy Acorn Bomb in an arc every 1.33 seconds. Upon exploding, the Acorn Bomb will split into 6 Acorn Shards that deal 33.33% of base damage. The sentry is locked in one direction and shoots regardless of whether there are enemies nearby or not.
Its best modifier is Ruthless. The Mythical modifier provides the widest array of stats bonuses, but these primarily affect the initial summon rather than the resulting minion. Additionally, minions cannot deal critical hits. The only significant advantage a Mythical weapon has over a Ruthless one is knockback.
