The Dragon Cleaver in use.

The Dragon Cleaver is a craftable Pre-Hardmode sword. When used, it performs a wide slash at the cursor that can destroy Fire projectiles and will stop dealing damage after 6 hits. Blocking projectiles or hitting enemies with the Dragon Cleaver will charge a Dragon Skull ability. After gaining 6 charges, pressing Open / Activate will launch a Dragon Skull in the direction of the cursor that will bite an enemy, inflicting the Dragonblaze debuff for 5 seconds.

As with all Dragon-Lead weapons, the Dragon Cleaver has a guaranteed chance to inflict the Dragonblaze debuff when a full set of Dragon-Lead armor is equipped. This bonus only applies to the swing, since the Dragon Skull already inflicts it.

Its best modifier is Godly.

  • The slash and the Dragon Skull deal 4x damage to Dragon-like Type enemies.
  • Dragon Cleaver cannot block Fire projectiles that deal more than 100 / 200 / 300 damage, homing projectiles, as well as certain blacklisted projectiles:
