The Corrupted Double Rifle in use.

The Corrupted Double Rifle is a craftable Hardmode gun. When used, it fires 2 parallel bullets, converting normal bullets into High Velocity ones. Hitting enemies will accumulate Heat by 1 point per hit up to 40 max. Each Heat point will increase the weapon's damage by 1%. Conversely, the player will lose 1 Heat point for every fired bullet that does not hit any enemy.

While at 40 Heat, pressing Open / Activate will consume 6 Energy and all accumulated Heat to fire 2 Omega Beams, which deal 200% of the weapon's damage and can pierce 7 enemies. Omega Beams will explode into Plasma Blasts upon reaching the cursor's position or impacting a tile.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

      • No longer fires an Omega Beam every 3 shots, consuming 3 Energy.
      • Now has a custom firing animation and can build up Heat by hitting enemies, increasing the gun's damage by up to 40%. Heat is lost whenever a bullet misses. Pressing Open / Activate at maximum Heat will consume 6 Energy and all Heat to fire 2 Omega Beams, which will explode at the cursor's position.
      • Buffed damage from 58 to 100.
  • 0.8.0.4035: The Omega Beam now leaves a plasma blast upon hitting a tile or after expiring.
