Chickens are critters that can be found in Forests during the Day. They can be caught with a Bug Net and carried in the inventory. Chickens aimlessly wander around, occasionally pecking the ground. They can also sit on Hay, laying a Chicken Egg after 4 to 19 seconds. Chickens will try to run away from the player upon spotting them, unless the player is wearing the Crown of the King or has the Devil Scented debuff.
There is a 0.05% chance that a Gold Chicken will spawn in place of a normal one, and a 0.25% chance for a L o n g Chicken to spawn instead.
During a Blood Moon, or when hit with Vile Powder or Vicious Powder, Chickens will turn into Corrupt Chickens or Vicious Chickens, which are hostile enemies.
Killing a Chicken with a Fire weapon or while it has the On Fire!/Hellfire debuff will drop Fried Chicken.
If a Chicken happens to peck a Gold Crown or Platinum Crown, it will turn into the Crown of the King.
